Well, it's finally happened. We've lost Shunsuke Kikuchi. He passed away 24 April due to aspiration pneumonia.

While this news came not entirely unexpected (he was 89) and yet all too soon, I'm glad he got to live as long as he did, and that he spent so much of that time contributing to anime and tokusatsu scores as an art form. It makes me realize just how grossly unversed I am in anything he did that had nothing to do with DragonBall. He had an enormous body of work. At the very least, the mere fact that said score was what got this site started in the first place should tell you enough about how incredible Kikuchi's talent was for melody, leitmotif and a darned riveting recap arrangement. Let's hope we can honor the man properly with more releases of his currently unpublished work someday.
Rest in peace, maestro.
