My Room
This is for you, in your room, dreaming
as you have been of adventure. ...

Travel always begins from home. The starting point on this unexpected adventure is your room. However, it seems like it'll be quite a bit different from your usual fun make-believe adventures: you see, the cue for it to start is, if you can believe it, a poltergeist phenomenon that goes after your family.

Assuming you're not the kind of person who enjoys fighting, on a regular basis, Lamp Stands that fly around in the air, this guidebook should be a help to you, if you're feeling maybe a little discouraged at the beginning of an adventure like this one. Before you leave your room, we recommend giving at least this page a read. Of course, beating into submission the Lamp Stand that's swooping down on you is your first order of business. ...

▲In the living room, you're bound to come to some kind of decision.

My Home
You were born here, and
you'll set out from here

On the second floor, apart from your room are Mimmie and Minnie's (your twin sisters) rooms, respectively. Go down the stairs and there's your mom.

After leaving on your journey, coming back home often to see your family is nothing to be ashamed of. Your dear mother, who will fix you your favorite meal, Minnie, who holds onto your stuff for you when your luggage gets full, and Mimmie, who's the spitting image of Minnie, are all looking forward to your return, there's no doubt about that.

Making Preparations to Set Out
Now, what's really essential for your adventure?

You probably already know: whatever's happening, it isn't good. Leave your house, and there's danger all over the place. You don't know why.

But if you were able to put a heroic end to your mini-adventure at home, the real adventure that starts from here on out is sure to turn out well.

The courage it took to rescue Mimmie from the crazed Doll. The curiosity in attempting to memorize the melody hidden inside the Doll. The composure needed to get on the phone and deliver your dad the news of the paranormal phenomenon that had just occurred. The perceptiveness in figuring out that the key to the basement, where an essential item for your adventure is stored away, is hidden on your dog Mick's collar.

Not to mention, another power you aren't yet aware of... PSI.

If you're missing anything, well, that would be the friends you haven't seen yet, who will join you on your adventure.

Start walking. You'll want to head for Mother's Day first.

EVENT CHECK POINT

In order to find out what's behind the paranormal phenomenon, the hero leaves home for a journey.

What you must not forget here is to learn the first melody, and to get the three kinds of items left in the basement.

As for the Basement Key, CHECK the dog and you'll get it.

Enemy Characters Who Appear:
Doll, Lamp Stand, Mouse

The First Melody

... but I still have high hopes for you anyway.
Well, you see...
A child has strayed into the cemetery.

▲Defeat the Doll that's flipping out in Mimmie's room, then CHECK it and you're good to go.

Necessities

[Screenshot dialogue box and caption:]
... opened the present.
Found Great-Grandfather's Diary.
Ninten took the Great-Grandfather's Diary.

▲There are three present boxes in the basement. Take all of their contents.

❏ Did you learn the melody from the music box inside the Doll?
❏ Did you get the Great-Grandfather's Diary?
❏ Did you get the Map?
❏ Did you get the Battered Bat and equip it?

¹ Throughout this book (and others), "My Home" (マイホーム) is treated as the name of the place, thus resulting in awkward phrasing like "the hero leaves My Home" or "end your mini-adventure at My Home in heroics". For my translation, I've changed this so that the full "name" is only used when it makes sense.
